PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) ? Six farmers were killed when their tractor ran over an anti-tank mine left over from Cambodia's 1980s civil war.
District police chief Khum Soy said Monday one of those killed was a 12-year-old child. Two other people were seriously wounded by the blast in northwestern Battambang province.
He said the group was driving home from a market where they had traveled to sell mushrooms and firewood.
The area around Battambang province was a site of intense battles between the former Khmer Rouge regime and government forces.
An estimated 4 million to 6 million land mines and other unexploded ordnance still remain in Cambodia from more than three decades of armed conflict.
