Web Developer (PHP) wanted for a growing media and ecommerce company in North County Dublin. This role reporting to the Web Manager will require the design, build and implementation of a new CRM platform to integrate with existing web interfaces. You will work closely with the web team through each stage of the web development?life cycle, producing a secure,?scaleable, web CRM application from functional specifications, through design, documentation and development within a test driven development environment.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS

Essential

Candidates must possess

  1. The chosen candidate will have a Degree or equivalent experience in one of the following areas (or closely-related technical degree): Computer Science, Computing, Information and Communication Technology, Computing with Marketing.
  2. To be considered for this position you must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland

Desirable

  1. It is?desirable?that you have experience working in a team development environment, using project management tools, bug tracking systems and code repositories and PHP, AJAX, HTML, XML, Javascript, CSS, MySQL, Linux, Apache, Photoshop and?Fireworks
  2. Experience of successfully managing the design and execution of technical software engineering projects in a commercial environment.
  3. Experience of developing electronic customer relationship management (eCRM) systems
  4. Experience of user interface design.
  5. Experience of software engineering methodologies, including Agile methods

FUSION Graduates who have completed the FUSION Post Graduate Diploma in Management need not apply.

The InterTradeIreland FUSION Programme offers Graduates an opportunity to manage technology transfer projects with some of the most progressive companies on the island of Ireland.? FUSION gives companies access to the wealth of expertise and facilities in our universities and colleges across the island of Ireland, allowing them to make strategic advances in innovation.? FUSION initially develops partnerships between companies with a technology need on one side of the border, and colleges or universities that can provide the required specialist expertise on the other side.? The partners work collectively to plan a specific project that will solve a technology need within the company.? A high calibre Graduate is then employed to spearhead the project for a period of 12 months and act as the link between the university and the company.? The successful FUSION Graduate will receive an attractive package and will also be given the opportunity to gain a fully-funded Post Graduate Diploma Business and Management from The Leadership Institute Queen?s University Belfast (QUB).

In this instance WeddingsOnline and University of Ulster have partnered to carry out the project described below.

WeddingsOnline

WeddingsOnline was launched in 2000 and has since become Ireland?s busiest wedding community. Over 80% of all engaged couples in Ireland use WeddingsOnline at some point in their wedding plans. The main area of business is the provision of online advertising and marketing solutions for wedding industry suppliers in Ireland. UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER

The University of Ulster has a reputation for innovation and regional engagement. It actively encourages its academic staff to engage with businesses and to participate in technology and knowledge exchange programmes such as FUSION. The School of Computing and Mathematics runs under-graduate as well as postgraduate degrees in computing as well as information & communication technologies and these courses include modules on the design and development of internet technologies. The Lead Academic has designed and delivers modules on e-Commerce and Digital Media Campaigns and Tactics.

The School of Communication in partnership with the School of Computing and Mathematics launched a new post-graduate certificate in Digital Media Communication in September 2011. The involvement in this FUSION project by an academic team that corresponds to the course team for this new, innovative degree will ensure that case studies will be industrially relevant and drawn from real-world industrial experiences. The other academics from the School of Communication lead on electronic customer relationship management (eCRM) and communication aspects.

The development plans of the knowledge centre partner are to continue to meet the educational and research needs of the market in the rapidly growing area of digital media communications, in which eCRM plays a pivotal role. The proposal project with the Company enables us to develop and validate our case studies and research in the rapidly changing area of e-CRM.

The academic institute has appointed a member of its staff as the Academic Supervisor to provide the required specialist expertise for the project. Further information about University of Ulster is available at www.ulster.ac.uk

FUSION PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The proposed work will result in an electronic customer relationship management (eCRM) product capable of operationally serving the two customers supported by the Company: brides, and wedding suppliers. The work will shift our business more towards being a technology provider and the eCRM product will serve these two customer types by offering them operational, analytical and collaborative facilities in this marketplace.

FUSION GRADUATE

Reporting to the Company Supervisor, you will be employed by WeddingsOnline to lead the FUSION project.? You will be responsible for ensuring that it is brought to a successful conclusion with the support from your supervisors.? This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate to gain excellent industrial experience through a structured and planned programme of work.? In addition to the daily support of a Company Supervisor, a dedicated member of University of Ulster with expertise in the project area will spend time with you and your Company Supervisor supporting the project.? Additional support will also be given to you by a FUSION Consultant responsible for ensuring that all projects run according to schedule.

Main Duties

  • To carry out the tasks outlined in the project workplan developed by the company and academic partnership
  • To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the workplan to a Project Management Group (PMG) which includes the assigned FUSION Consultant representing InterTradeIreland
  • To liaise effectively with your Company Supervisor on a regular basis
  • To liaise effectively with your Academic Supervisor to ensure that the required expertise is being provided to the project
  • To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Graduate, Company Supervisor and Academic Supervisor)
  • To direct the necessary forward planning for the success of the project
  • To train staff so that the new technology is fully transferred and embedded in the company
  • To attend Postgraduate Diploma Business and Management delivered by QUB.
  • To assist with the preparation of a project Final Report required by InterTradeIreland
  • Any other duties which might fall within the general ambit of the post

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT

You will be expected to attend a management training course, designed specifically for FUSION Graduates and delivered by Queen?s University Belfast (QUB).? Its aims are to enhance your personal, professional and managerial capabilities so that you can complete your FUSION project successfully and to equip you with the necessary skills to take up future leadership roles in business.? The course consists of a series of five, two-day theoretical workshops; however, a substantial part of the qualification will be work based.? On successful completion of the training, you will obtain a Post Graduate Diploma Business and Management which will be accredited by QUB.

LOCATION

The successful candidate will be based at WeddingsOnline, Europa Academy, Balheary Road, Swords, Co Dublin. The Graduate will also travel independently on occasions between WeddingsOnline and University of Ulster and between WeddingsOnline and QUB. Independent travel to other locations will also be required occasionally as the job dictates
